Appealing meal deals - Jonathan Ashmore commercial director of supplier the Big KItchen says pub caterers should use British Sandwich Week (15-21 May) to develop new sandwiches and incorporate new cuisines, and look to the high street for inspiration.

The Big Kitchen supplies products including pork, beef, lamb, kofta meatballs and sliced sausages.

"Meal deals combining sandwiches with hot drinks in the morning and soup or chips or soft drinks at lunchtime can also be incremental to sales and give value to customers," says Ashmore. "By reflecting what is on the high street, refreshing menus regularly and pricing competitively, pubs can make their sandwich and snack menus popular with customers and a commercial success.
